"This phenomenon, known as the “Quarterlife Crisis,” is as ubiquitous as it is intangible. Unrelenting indecision, isolation, confusion and anxiety about working, relationships and direction is reported by people in their mid-twenties to early thirties who are usually urban, middle class and well-educated; those who should be able to capitalize on their youth, unparalleled freedom and free-for-all individuation. They can’t make any decisions, because they don’t know what they want, and they don’t know what they want because they don’t know who they are, and they don’t know who they are because they’re allowed to be anyone they want."

What I love about Sunday afternoon is that it always gives you the slowness that afternoons should be like. Whether you're recovering from a massive hangover from two nights (or more) worth of alcohol and unmentionables, or from a food coma, or probably just groggy from sleeping the entire weekend in--Sunday afternoons are the best time to sit back and take stock of what an awesome weekend it was.
We usually have Sunday family lunch at my lola's house but for the past two Sundays, we've been holding it in our house. I wasn't here last weekend so I was expecting the parentals to drag me out of bed and put my half-asleep self into the car off to lunch, but my dad woke me up a few minutes before lunch to tell me my cousins were downstairs. Yay! No need to think of something to wear!
Lunch was good. While waiting for my sister to arrive from the airport, we had a few beers and feasted on home-made spinach dip and just, well, talked. I hardly get to see some of my cousins because they don't wake up on time for Sunday lunch, so even if our conversation topics start off the same everytime, we're good with how it goes from there.
Yup. It was an awesome Sunday and I'm glad the sister is back for a week. :) I kinda miss having other people around the house to bug.
(and I hope I can get away with leaving work early so we could go shopping!) |

| | silly | ] | Here's a fact--when I had a chance to subscribe to YM or 17 when I was about 13 or 14, I preferred BOP. I was so obsessed with boys who looked scruffy--HELLO, BRAD RENFRO!
And now, here's Cappie from Greek.
Isn't he cute? I love his character on the show. (Here is the part where you wonder why I'm watching a teeny bopper show about college frats and sororities that is far less sophisticated than Gossip Girl and probably a bit more cutesy than you can bear. and that no one else is probably watching it).
Heehee :)
Don't mind the girl. Mind Cappie!
K, thnx, now I feel really silly <3

Hmmmm.
Two weeks ago, Apol celebrated his birthday.
His brother and the girlfriend surprised him with a cake. Happy 262nd birthday!
We had dinner and went to Magnet High Street for Denise's fundraising event. It was a fun gig and Apol was able to win the bid on Cynthia's pretty painting.
Gigs are fun! I really miss going to gigs where people don't sing covers like "Beautiful Girls" or "Zombie" (plus concerts where people go ape shit over Final Countdown..hahahaha).
And on that note, let me invite you to the after, after party!

I'm tempted to do a photo dump like Phil but I haven't gotten around to even sorting and posting the stuff. I'm not as excited about pictures like before, probably because work takes up more of your time when you get older :(. Hahaha. Yeah, the key is finding something you won't mind doing for about 75% of the time. I said, won't mind, not love, because God knows only a few of us really find that Goonies treasure. Harrrrr.
On my way to work today, an elderly woman hitched a ride with me. I was on my way out of our village when I saw her waving at the bottom of the hill (I live in the bottom of a really steep hill, and encounters like this aren't unusual). I gave her a ride until U.P. and she gave me her 2 cents worth about how traffic really sucks in our area due to lack of urban planning (my favorite complaint). I didn't say anything because I've said it so many times before. Then she talked about that sex scandal again and I really really don't want to hear that anymore (anything about it, plus the jokes!) so the rant ends here because it's just a waste of time and a friend told me I complain too much (I'm working on that).
............ And I'm always thinking about vacations. |

Do you realize that you have the most beautiful face Do you realize we're floating in space - Do you realize that happiness makes you cry Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Aren't the Lips awesome? One day, we'll be able to see them live, dance around like a bunch of crazies, or hopefully, wear a ridiculously fantastic costume and jump up and down on the sidelines. Until then I'll keep this on my Top 25 Most Played. Har.
What is everyone doing tomorrow? Let's go to NomNomNom! :)

Then Lucas from Empire Records comes to mind when he asks "What's with today, today?"
Now we snicker and think about how we're going to get through Monday and laugh at stupid jokes. Hahaha.
Last weekend was awesome. Starting the weekend on a Thursday is always good. :) |

| I'm getting terrible at this. |
[Apr. 14th, 2009|11:57 pm] |
First days are usually uneventful. You get introduced to everyone. You get briefed. Maybe dragged into a meeting. You get your pencil cup and if you're lucky, your desk and computer right away (this only happened in my first job. The rest, well, I had to sit and stare at walls during down times). Then you start sensing that you got all anxious or nervous over nothing. The anxiety turns into this small fear of things to come, the calm before the storm. And then you'll look back on this day with such fondness. HAHA.
So today went like any other "first day" I've had in my life. Everything was fine especially at work, but it's the reintegration back into the "cycle" that I need to work on. You know waking up before 11AM and all that.
It's weird to be so near school again. You know, near enough to see that the tents where we used to get shitfaced before class is now a parking lot and that there is a McDonalds nearby. I think it's still a bit too near to be all nostalgic about college and being a student. At least I know walking to Shang/Shaw MRT isn't such a hassle. PLUS parking is a whole lot cheaper too.
And, for the first time in two years, I took the MRT again. The long lines and the packed trains are never going to go away, so why bother complaining? I just wish that we would have better urban planners in the future. There is hope--the NatGeo Mega Cities special on Seoul showed how screwed up their roads were and how traffic was so horrible, and they decided to just do away with flyovers and just make the public transportation work. I'm crossing my fingers that somebody would wake up soon and realize that it has to be function over profit.
No more idiotic elevated U-Turns.
K.
I can't get over the fact that I missed Santigold/Santogold in Boracay. Why didn't I listen when people said it was true?!?! It's the same feeling I got when I found out the DCFC tickets were sold out. |
